Mark VIII IRS & CV Cradle bolt pattern mis match
If you change your suspension to the 2003 and up Panther platform IFS (Independent Front Suspension). You will be changing your front lug bolt pattern to 5 X 4 1/2" from the original 5 X 5 1/2". Several here are also looking at installing the 93-98 Lincoln Mark VIII, Cougar & 89-97 Thunderbird 8.8" IRS (Independent Rear Suspension). Be ware many IRSs ARE NOT 8.8 (V6 T-Birds and Cougars had the 7.5s). The 8.8 IRS creates a mis match as the bolt pattern is 5 X 4 1/4". Gary (Project 55) says the Thunderbird is narrower than the CV IFS so a 1" spacer with the correct 5 X 4 1/2" corrected his mis match. Since Mustang Cobra IRS hubs are a direct fit this is another option as Cobras have 5 X 4 1/2" but those hubs are going from $120 up each, plus you need to replace the wheel bearings at $30@.
My Mark VIII I did a little differently. I contacted IRS Machining Services
irsmachining.com and had my perfectly good lincoln hubs redrilled to 5 X 4 1/2". For $75.00. I bought the recommended Dorman lug bolts (610-252) and had to pay shipping to them.
