OBD-1/EEC-IV connector issue...

Well something is up with my truck's connector. I can't get my code reader to work with it. I've tried multiple different time's, new battery's nothing seems to work. I know the scanner works, I've used it on my mustang plenty of times and just for the hell of it I went to my friend's '89 mustang with it and it instantly worked.

I CAN get codes out of the truck using the paper clip method. I'd just would like to use my code reader since it's easier.

Anyone have idea's?

Here's the code reader I have:

Try some contact cleaner in the plugs on the truck. While you have the plug wet, plug in the reader a few times. They crud up and give grief sometimes..

I don't remember if it was a I or II obd Ford truck I couldn't get my equus to work on, but it turned out to be a fuse in the truck.

It only work's on OBD-1.

I did a combination of things. I sprayed it with electrical cleaner, used a screwdriver to dig more crud out then used the unit itself.

End result is I got it to work. Thanks guys!
