Can any one tell me what kind of problems I will encounter when I swap a 1988 ford F250 4x4 front axle and transfer case onto a 1984 F350 2x4 . Both trucks have 460's
Why would you want to switch out the solid axle to the TTB?
He has a 2wd f350.
You'll want to have the whole truck.. just going to the salvage yard and getting only the parts you need would be tough. You will need the brackets that are riveted to the crossmember that the TTB arms pivot on for one thing. The more popular swap is a D60 solid front axle from a F350, especially if you are planning on a lift or any heavy offroad use. The ttb D50 would be ok for a lighter duty front that you would use the 4x4 occasionally and keep stock height.
Thats why I bought the whole truck. the transfer case should bolt up to the earlier C-6 right? Just trying to figure out what kind of problems I am going to have.
You'll need to use the trans out of the 4x4 truck. You cant just swap the rear section from the 4x4 trans to the 2wd, the output shaft has to be changed also and it comes out through the front of the trans... COMPLETE trans dissasemby is required to do this.
