If you use the stuff from eastwood, you don't sand. Just wire brush and paint. It has a cemical reaction with the rust. I have a frame on a 46 chevy truck I painted with it 15 yeqars ago that was rusting real bad, looks like the day I painted it

Take the back driveshaft off, lock the hubs, put it in 4H, and go around the block. How's it act?

I really need to take a break away from this truck when I'm this frustrated. I'm very appreciative of all the advise but I simply can't mess with it right now or I'll end up breaking something.

UPDATE: Good news (sigh) finally! Turns out that after replacing the carrier bearing and all the u-joints I still experienced the stupid shudder/vibration taking off and 40+ mph.

Fast forward to today. I made the choice to try and ditch all the shims and presto truck has no vibration upon take-off and slight vibration when 65+ mph. I will get the driveshaft balanced just to make sure. I'm VERY pleased that I stayed tenacious and didn't just give in to this big beast!

Now I will start to tackle all the cancer under the truck .....

Thanks again everyone for all the help. Guess my truck is a freak. LOL. But a vibration FREE freak.

Congrats Tim.... he who strives to win, finally does!

I hope that's true here too-trying to ge3t rid of all the stuff/software/hardware that is old or won't run on Win 7 and found out I sure have a lot of old 3.5" floppies. Found a batch of them that I got from Seattle Film Works back in the day that we had to send film in to be developed. Well, no way will todays computers open those .sfw files. Got to goggle around and see if I can find a free one. BTW, you don't want a BUNCH of 3.5 floppies do you?

Thanks! I've been giving some thought to trying to pull that trailer with this lift. After thinking about it quite a bit and reading a LOT online (doing a LOT of research), I think I'll be ok especially since I'm pulling via bumper and not pulling nearly as much weight as I originally thought. I'll be pulling I figured the trailer weighed a LOT more than it does, however it's actually not too bad and weighs 3600lbs unladen. So I figure with the following: 3600 (trailer) + 1500 (2 full sized ATV's weigh 500'ish and one small ATV) + 1000 lbs (for extra's, gear, etc). Therefore, I'm guessing I'll be towing around 6100-6500lbs all loaded up.

Once I get water tanks (if I choose to do that), I'll be weighing a lot more.

Additionally, this trailer has "Surge" brakes which I'm not a huge fan of. I had surge brakes on my old boat trailer and it worked great, however, I'd really like to convert this trailer over to electric brakes. Now I'm wondering how expensive this new task is gonna be? LOL. never end, does it?

Man, I'm glad you got it fixed!!!!

There is an electric disc brake conversion kit out there, you'll have to do some research.

No - take it from a 72 year old...it NEVER ends!
Found a converter for the old floppy sfw files. They look ugly tho after the conversion. What is the best file to make them, any idea? Bitmap - jpg - png etc.

BTW, I have a fairly nice tv in the garage that I'm not going to use and I'm cleaning the garage. Know anyone that might need it? It's a little older but works great as far as I know. Price: 6 pack of corona!!!!
