You will need to clean up the wiring still to get the correct feed for the coil.
I think you are feeding it with full voltage now.

The tach feeds into the green wire, top plug of this photo.

Oh yeah, the wiring is getting a total clean up.
Right now i've got the coil powered by the old coils power source, which was a "brownish" wire. Shouldn't this have some resistance? What would it hurt to keep the coil powered with full voltage?

Other than that, i've located the circular plug that the TFI harness gets its power from, and tomorrow i'll be finishing up this wiring hopefully.

Scratch the timing to 10 degrees comment, for now i'm just timing it by ear, the mark on the balancer can't be seen, i'll have to clean it up a bit and paint the mark white.

The TFI system uses full battery voltage to the square coil; the DS2 does not use full battery voltage to the round coil. Check the voltage at idle to the coil positive, it will most likely be full battery voltage.
Short term it is not a big deal. Long term the round coil and DS2 module could fail from being over heated by the higher voltage.
The info is in the long 8 page thread on how to clean up the wiring.

The wiring isn't that bad really, i did allot to clean it up already. Installed the factory style horseshoe clip on the coil, and ran it's wiring straight over and underneath the dizzy to the dizzys harness.

I just need to delete the rest of the old TFI, carb, and emissions device wiring.

So how should i go about lowing the voltage to the DS2 module and IGN coil?

see post 48 and 49.
You need to power the coil directly from the resistor wire.

Thanks a million jim, i'll post some pictures once I've got everything finished.

Outside of having trouble with one wire, this was a pretty easy and simple conversion. Had that one orange / purple wire not been loose the truck would have fired right up on the first try.

Hey jim, is there anything i can do to this feedback carb to get it to run alittle smoother?

I rebuilt this carb about a month or so ago and it helped alittle bit. now that the electrnoics are gone the idle quality dropped off, but it still runs half decent other than that. the choke is already converted to manual.

I'm stuck with this carb for another two months also, won't be able to upgrade for awhile.

Just because it is a Feedback Carb doesn’t mean it will run bad with a DS2 system. I have been running one for over 2 years with a Feedback carb on my truck. I do have 2 other junk yard Carbs, but I haven’t tried them out yet. It will run a little rich at idle but it will be a smooth idle.

Here is a good read….

I don’t recommend you put any more money into the feedback carb given your situation. If the Carb is badly worn out a carb kit doesn’t always help.

Like i said, i rebuilt this carb when i bought the truck a month or two ago. I've got a really rough idle though, REALLY rough. It picks up just fine and runs good but idles hard and wants to stay between 800- 1000 RPM.

If all goes as planned, next month I'll pickup an offy DP intake manifold, and I'll be rebuilding my holley 600 to use with that intake. The reason I'm using a 600 CFM is because I've already got the carb, and it needs rebuilt. I rebuild carbs, so it works out perfect being that this is all budget based. Got any tips for using a holley 600 CFM on one of these straight 6s?

I haven’t really done any performances mods to my truck, I am just happy it starts every morning.

That's really all i'm after, the performance boost is just a plus. I wouldn't even consider using my 600CFm if i could find either a holley 390, or a carb from an older 4.9l
