[quote=NumberDummy;11127987]One reason: All the parts are obsolete. Some parts, like the expansion valve and the A/C Heater control panel are impossible to find NOS
The levers within the A/C Heater control panel attach to the metal panel with nylon bushings. The bushings crack and/or fall apart, the levers flop around.[quote]
Not sure Bill, but if you look on Classic Auto Air's website - they also offer rebuilds of old factory units. Before I replaced mine, I talked with them and they told me they could rebuild the original unit. Give them a call - http://www.classicautoair.com/?q=FORD_OEM_Parts.html - it'll give you something to do. AND - - MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YA!

Peeps cannot buy the parts from FoMoCo any longer, and ain't going to call, cuz I haven't owned a bumpside since 1979.
And...I have more than enough to do as it is...locating obsolete parts for peeps like wire wheel covers and bed side rails.

And you do a really good job of it too. Us "peeps" appreciate ya. Since you bring that up, I've got a really good challenge for you - see if you can find an overdrive that will fit a 52 F1 p/u with original flathead. Would hope I could just change out rear-ends. Seems someone told me, may have been you, that one from a 49-53 ford would fit???? don't know That ought to keep you busy for a while.

Not much of a challenge, see if you can come up with something a little tougher next time.
Warner T-86 O/D introduced in 1953 F100's, in Ford/Merc Passenger Cars in 1949.
Passenger Cars use a different extension housing/output shaft/trans mount than F100's.
