How to get to 400hp?
In the interest of discussion, I'd like to know what mods I need to do to get to 400hp. Because I have PMR's, I have always heard that 400hp is the max safe (relative term) I could get to without flirting with disaster. So, with that in mind, what mods do I need to do to get to that number? I have never dynoed my truck, but my current mods are in my signature. I will probably put it on a dyno to see where I currently am at the next available opportunity. I would like to build the truck to that amount of power with towing in mind, but I would probably try my hand at the drags at RRE as well. All opinions are welcome, thanks.

There have been many threads in regards to this subject, here is one of them... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...werstroke.html
And I personally would say that about 350 is your warning zone, 400+ is your red zone. Some people can do it and others detonate their engines.

Bob, go back to PHP on there web site. He was experimenting with the 7.3 on his dyno and has a good write up. He got 370+ HP with stage 1 injectors I believe. This was a prm rod engine to. From there he was going up. If you look at Robin post and engine he got 476 HP I believe with stage two injectors, 38R, exhaust, intake and big oil. Maybe the big oil wasn't put in yet at RRE. But I would say stage two 200/80 over for 400+ HP.
Let us know what you do. I know Barney got 380HP & 800# out of baby swamps with big oil, turbo ect.. And he tows 18000#'s.

send Bill and email. he'll line you out. when I was shopping for injectors I talked with Bill, Bob Riley, and Jonathon at Swamps. because of the #'s I tow they all recommended the smaller nozzles(175/146) on the injectors. but new info is coming online everyday. I would have gone with a turbo from Wide Open but I need something almost stockish incase I need easy to find parts along the road somewhere.
I would love a set of compounds but again I have to be able to fix it fast and cheap in a Walmart parking lot LOL

with a stocker and a 38r i was boosting 30lbs on stock sticks.....the stock turbo doesnt like over 24lbs.....keep doing it and its just a matter of time.....i had a 38r go bad on me so i have a bad taste in my mouth about them and especially the cost to rebuild one.....i got the h2e and could still boost 30lbs on stock sticks......got the stage 1's and now i boost 40lbs in my highest setting.....can hit mid 20's in stock mode.....a stock turbo will work but for how long is unknown.....kinda like going over 400 on pmr's.....wanna gamble?

I would probably have to do this in stages, so injectors first, then add the turbo. Of course, if something like this H2E is a good deal, I could buy it and hold onto it until I did the injectors? My understanding is the H2E has too much lag with stock injectors.
BTW, I can count on one hand the number of times I've been over 24psi on my stock turbo.
