Mine are a bit different but they work great for me and still allow me the full use of my bed which is needed with it only being 5'6" and what I load it with on a regular basis.
I went with a tool chest instead of a truck box. For two reasons.
Most importantly, with a supercab truck you can not see the tailgate when backing up no matter how high you lift your butt off the seat. (Atleast I couldn't in my 1998.)
My second reason was that I did not want to take away from the lines of the truck by putting a toolbox on the bed rails. I'm not especially tall, so I had to climb in the bed if I needed something out of my other box anyway, so having this one lower isn't an issue for me.

I have never seen ones like that! How do you like them? What make/model are they? I think I might have to get a set.....
I went with the more traditional route, but I have quite a bit of stuff in mine, (chainsaw, gas can, bar oil, tool bag, grinder in case, level, various hmmers, upside down paint, etc.) I liked the look of it against the black. My boss has the same truck (although his is dark blue) but he also has the low profile box, which sits only about two inches over the bedrail for better visibility. I have to admit, my visibility out the back is not great. His is almost the same as n box. Hope this helps!
sorry, haven't figured out how to add pictures to my posts yet.....
my toolbox is just a standard diamond tread toolbox. comes up about 5 inches over the bed rails.
I love my boxes they work great for me and I keep them loaded down all the time. Both are filled with various tools and other items. The main thing I like is with the tailgate down I can still slide in 4 1/2" full sheets of plywood under the tool boxes and still be able to have them swing out to for easy access. The brackets that came with them just screwed right into the side of the bed and have never had any issues with the swinging or the operation of the boxes.
They hold about 75lbs each but yeah anything more and I would have to upgrade to something else. My bigger stuff just gets moved back and forth for the basement or tool shed to the truck as needed so these work well for my hand tools and things.

Yeah, I bet my tool box weighs 250-300lbs. I have all sorts of things in their: Jacks, Saws, Hand tools, Oils, etc.
Yeah the saws and jacks don't stay in my truck on a regular basis as I mke my crews provide their own tools for the most part so I usually only need hand tools and jumper cables.
