I replaced my battery cables with 2 gauge arc welder cables. Soldered copper lugs on both ends. Used military clamps on the batteries, where the clamp has a bolt to hold a lug on instead of clamping the bare wire. Spins over like it's possessed by demons now. You might need to just replace your cables.

Amazing what correct Battery CCA, a healthy preheat system and good tight connections will do. I started this morning at 22f and it fired within 2 seconds! There's just something about a good cold start that makes you feel good about your engine.
Yeah my starter sounds EXACTLY like the bad one in the video. Ive replacedthem before and yes it will go so much faster. Way faster even than the good video.
Just bought all new 2/0 cables. Will install later and get new starter.
Take it to one of the advance auto world stores that test starters for free. No cash or work required especially for the one that's not on the truck. If its good chances are the one on the truck is too and your problem is elsewhere.
Just as a follow up: The problem all along was just the batteries. After a few days of starting with the good batteries the starter loosened up and now cranks at a good speed. I still need to install my new 2/0 cables and I'm betting that will make it even better.
