Valair clutch is toasted. According to my records it only lasted 2 years 10 months? I'll have to check on my service records.
The kevlar pucks wore out. They were down to the rivots causing the clutch to slip. Valair basically said "You can't drive a manual, you suck, f%ck off"
The ceramic side was great, the fly wheel was also in great shape. The pressure plate (Kevlar side) was obviosuly shot from the rivots grinding into it.
I called South Bend and ordered a DUAL DISC street performer clutch. Guy said it was a beefier clutch and damn was he right. Having the Valair and the South Bend next to each other was a interesting sight. South Bend for the win. (Some will say, yeah but your comparing a dual disc to a single disc, whatever)
I have about 350 miles on the clutch. Also installed a new slave cylinder because mine started leaking when I wrestled it off of the transmission. It didn't leak prior.
I have pictures somewhere in my phone. I'll post them up later

Is the South Bend clutch you got the Ceramic/Organic dual disc?
That is the one. I've been considering that one too. I have had some problems with the last two Valair clutches I've had. I have to say though, there were some other circumstances that may have led to my problem, but I am ready to try something else regardless. I called South Bend and talked to them at length about that dual disc. I liked what the guy had to say, and also liked the price. As soon as I recover financially from getting laid off in June, I feel pretty certain that will be the one that will go in my truck along with the hybrid trans I built.
How aggressive is that clutch? Does it shutter very much pulling out, or is it fairly smooth?
It's not bad at all. No jerking or shuttering. Now I haven't back up a trailer with it yet. I heard that's where it can be best to put it in low range.

That's where the trans I built comes in! But yeah, using low range to back up a load is easier with any clutch.
