I'm in the process of changing my clutch.
The new valair clutch has a 2 1/2" wide clutch surface, the old solid flywheel and old clutch has only a 1 3/4" surface. All mounting holes line up, splines are the same. Pressure plate is matched to the new clutch . Do you guys see any issues running it this way? I don't but like some advice.
Did you get the flywheel machined? I think I'd feel better about it if I knew the flywheel was true. It's possible that the flywheel wouldn't be perfectly flat because of the fact that the old clutch disk wasn't making as wide a "path" of contact on the flywheel.
If you had the flywheel machined, then I see no issue with it whatsoever.
I found the issue... Hate it though.. My flywheel is a luk style , the one I need is a valair style, which has a larger surface for the clutch.. Heading to the parts store now, who supposingly has one in stock..
Just got back with a new flywheel. I will make a photo and post it later on as reference, just in case someone else runs into the same problem.
Thanks guys
