I replaced the solenoid,,starter stuck again so l replaced the starter with a rebuilt,,starter stuck again,,seems to me this happened last year and it was a ground issue,,don't have a clue cause i have cleaned all grounds up..If starter sticks I give solenoid a swat..Great timing when it stuck coming through Canada Customs on Saturday,,,Turn you engine off sir "great frikkin' idea junior" Tried to find one of the pmgr starters,,,they looked at me like I from some other planet.
right now I will change the turn signal switch and see if i can get brake lights and rear 4way flashers working.
When the starter sticks, pull the small red/blue-stripe wire from the solenoid (#5 in the diagram); if the starter is still sticking, the solenoid is the problem, it is the only thing feeding power to the starter motor.
The red/blue-stripe wire carries the signal from the ignition switch that it needs to awaken and begin feeding power to the starter motor post haste.

In case anyone wants a PMGR starter for their 351W (mine is C6 auto), this is the one I just put in mine....and it kicks butt!
Does whacking the solenoid un-stick the starter? If so, the problem is the solenoid.
When the starter is stuck, disconnect the small red/blue-stripe wire from the solenoid; did it suddenly stop? If so, the ignition switch on the column or the wiring to the solenoid is to blame.
The solenoid is the on/off switch for the starter motor, and replacing the starter motor because the switch tells it to stay operating doesn't solve anything.

Chris, when we talk about the solenoid, are we talking about the fender well mounted solenoid, or the starter motor solenoid (bendix)?
Which one are we whacking here?
Also, when we indicate that our starter is "stuck", do we mean that the motor is still running, or that it just won't disengage from the ring gear?

The electrical device on the fender is what I'm referring to.
The Bendix® is the assembly that allows the starter motor to engage with the fly/flexwheel and turn the engine but doesn't allow the engine to turn the starter motor.

Good question!
I was interpreting it to mean the starter is still engaged with the engine even when it's running but I could be wrong there.
