The over head digital readout thing does not work on our 03 250SD crew/6.0.
Is this easy to replace? Is there something else wrong that might be causing this, like a fuse? Is this display necessary to see warnings? The only thing I would like to use it for would be, is a compass and outside temp.
Thanks,eh? We just aquired our truck a few days ago and are still in the learning mode!
MIne didnt work when i first got the truck, all i did was take the unit out and found one of the little resistors had fallen off, just held it in place with tweezers and reflowed the soder and it works like a dream ever since( of course except for the fact that it say i get like 22MPG when i actually get like 16) but thats just the way it calculates...Easy Fix, it was the first time i had ever soder'd before
Thanks for the input! The only thing not functioning is the over head console readout. Everything else(at least as far as I know) is working. I m in the confusing process of programming a scanguage2. What I mean by that is that I guess I m not in need of this read out for the truck to function safely.
I sent mine off to have it fixed... I think it was about $30 and it was fast. It was a guy in FL. If you want I can go back and find the info. Should come up with doing a search on your favorite search engine. It's fairly common. Mine didn't work when I bought the truck. Works like a champ now.

I would like to have it functional just because.. it isn't! If you could send me the info, that would be great!! Either post it here or email to:
But that site isn't up anymore. I do remember getting a card in the mail saying they had changed their web site. When I get home I'll see if I still have it on my desk.
No it will not affect your truck running safely, and actually people usually refer to it as the LIE O METER..lol
I think the outside temperature is actually pretty actuate if your moving down the road. The sensor is just inside the grill on the driver's side, so it's getting a fair shot at the temperature. If your sitting still, I think it starts to read warmer/hotter than what the actually ambient is though. Here is an interesting post from Matt @ Gearhead about how the computer figures fuel mileage.
I was looking in the tech folder...thinking there was a link on how to repair the overhead. But I can't seem to find it, guess I could search for it...but that takes all the fun out of it.
I just sent mine to www.autoclockrepair.com . Steve is in Maryland and seems knowledgeable. Or you can look on ebay for overhead console and you will find the latest "repair guy" as well as the opportunity to buy parts.
I just bought one on ebay for $75.00 and it came with a console (brown) mine is grey so I took the unit out and attached it to my console and reinstlled it. Toal time 10 minutes (without my glasses on) Two minutes withe the glasses on (so I could see the screw holes)
Hope this helped.
