Temp and compass dead in overhead console

Noticed a couple of weeks ago the the display in the overhead console in the wife's 99' 250 was dim. Yesterday she said that it went out completely. Anyone else had this happen? Any ideas other than replacing it?

I've read that there are some fuses that may have broken from the circuit board traces and is easly re soldered back on.

Do you mean the display board? If so does anyone know the trick to removing the console without breaking it?
