Hey: WTF is with the price of diesel? We took a short trip this morning, and I was going to diesel up but decided to wait till we got back. When I passed my fuel stop in the morning the price was 369.9. So we get back 5 hrs later and the same station is posting 395.9/gal . I told the wife "screw that dirty crook" and drove off to find another station. The next two were selling theirs for 399.9/gal. What happened to drive the price up 30 cents in just a few hours.

You're not the only one my Brotha, here in Big Pine, the Shell gas station, yesterday, 12 Nov'11, the fuel was 4.01 a gallon, went for a short drive, approx 7 hours later, the price jumped to 4.19 a gallon. I feel a little trapped since in the local area there are alot of diesel's and this station in my opinion does have the best diesel fuel in the "keys". I'm wondering since the boat races concluded yesterday, if this fuel station didn't initiate a little price gouging for all the outbound heavy boat hauler's. Whatever the case may be, my truck performs the best with fuel from this station.
The cost of oil went up...... and with the new oil transport system, the oil gets there right after the prices goes up instead of a month later like they use to use transporting it across the Atlantic. When the price of oil goes down there is not as much profit so they send it the old way....... after all our government says they are not GOUGING us.
As much as it may seem, he's not a dirty crook. I noticed a couple of days ago that diesel is running ~70¢ higher than gasoline. This is more than double the price premium that I saw when I had mine!
Not to gloat, but it really makes me happy to own a Mustang! She's happy on regular old 87 octane at $3.29/gal! Doesn't make me miss my truck any less though...
Crude oil is $100-115 depending where it comes from, for some reason gasoline is selling for about .25 cents a gallon less then what it should be at the crude price. I fueled up yesterday (southeast, Pa.) at $3.95 up from a few weeks ago when it was $3.77
3.95 to 4.15 out here. I don't understand why diesel and gas prices are not moving together, but I do know the oil companies know diesel consumption is constant while gas consumption decreases as price increases.
In my area there is one Gulf station that always has diesel much cheaper than anyone else. Usually .25 cheaper, but sometimes as much as .50 cheaper. All the stations are within 7 miles of each other.
There have been some posts by our Canadian members that there is a fuel shortage happening up there.

We are 126.9 here with gas at 113.9, what's it like up in Edmonton?

NO DIESEL.
Local shell station says they are getting a limited amount tomorrow AM, so if you want some line up!
A few reasons for the shortages here (that I have been told):
-CO OP refinery in regina had an explosion early Oct and diesel production is down 25%
-Both Suncor refinery in Edmonton and Shell Scotford are lacking hydrogen from a third party supplier (used in production). Both are looking for other sources.
-The demad for deisel is HUGE here.
They are saying the shortages could last into December....
Wishin' I would have went with the transfer flow 100 gal in box tank now
The president put off a pipeline decision untill after an election. Canada then said that they will be talking to china. Not political ,just reporting the news.

I put both into spread sheet and averaged the weekly barrel of oil prices to right of first link data (on my pc) and major change is barrel of oil price.
I wanted a diesel and was willing to pay the extra $8000 for it too. Then I started to run some numbers with the price of gas vs. diesel. I figured it was not worth it pay upfront then pay extra on every tank too. Here in MI it's $3.99 and gas is $3.29, that's a big difference when you gotta put in 25 gallons into your tank.
