$3.79 when I filled up Wednesday evening.
That's about average for this area.
I imagine it's gone up since then, too.
At least I didn't drive the truck until this morning so it's still full!
Thanksgiving week will be a different story.
Hey: WTF is with the price of diesel? We took a short trip this morning, and I was going to diesel up but decided to wait till we got back. When I passed my fuel stop in the morning the price was 369.9. So we get back 5 hrs later and the same station is posting 395.9/gal . I told the wife "screw that dirty crook" and drove off to find another station. The next two were selling theirs for 399.9/gal. What happened to drive the price up 30 cents in just a few hours.
Diesel here in central Washington is as high as $4.39 a gallon in some filling stations. I paid $4.07 with a discount at a Fred Meyer this weekend. Our fuel here is always higher that most other places as we have one of the highest fuel taxes in the mainland states.
Went to Mandaree, ND over the weekend to check out roads/pads I build for oil companies. $4.399 was the highest and heard $4.5+ the further north you went.
1045 mile round trip from Western Nebraska. $270 fuel bill.
There was a article in the LA times business section stating the high demand for diesel exports to central plus south America and Europe is effecting costs. US exported an average in Aug. a record 895,000 barrels each day of diesel fuel, compared to 730,000 per day during the first half of 2011.
Heating oil is in full production and deliver, It competes with diesel. We always see a rise in diesel prices as the home heating season kicks off.
I wish all those folks with fuel oil heaters would convert to natural gas.
I filled up yesterday for $3.99 per gallon and some station were $4.13
Me too.
Up here in the great northeast, many areas don't have natural gas pipelines. Our oil tank was filled yesterday @ $3.75/gallon.
We updated the heating system at our cottage and went with propane. As noted, there are multiple suppliers (and, you can make propane from different sources). Too bad propane has so many fewer BTUs per gallon.
Did you see that Anadarko announce that their northern CO oil/gas field is estimated to contain 1 billion barrels? Domestic production is actually rising for the first time in, what, 20 years?
Of course, now they have to get it out of the ground and have enough refining capacity to make it useful.
something is big time up with diesel, gasoline prices are actually plunging I think I saw $3.19 for gasoline and 4.18 for diesel at one station today. have we ever had a full $1 spread between gas and diesel??
actually oil prices haven't really went up, but rather fuel has failed to go down, a few months back we had oil in the $70's/barrel, but fuel never dropped a whole lot from where its at right now. actually gasoline might be cheaper than it ever was when oil was trading in the 70's a few months back or since.
I know the whole heating oil demand deal, it happens every year, what we don't normally see is gasoline go way down and diesel go up this fast. we are at least 70+ cents on the spread in some cases nearly a full $1, if you look at futures prices right now, the spread is .64 add in another .06/gallon extra in tax, the stations charging almost a $1 more one has to wonder where the extra money is going.
back when we did have lower oil prices, there were a FEW stations that had lower diesel fuel prices as much as .25 lower than almost all other stations. I think there is some scamming going on.
