I have a 1976 F250 Highboy.. The bearings are bad in the steering column in my truck and i was wondering if a 1978 Steering column would fit because i found a good one at the local JYard
I do believe it will bolt right in, but you could have a electrical connector issue at the main connector. I believe they were one way up to mid 77 and changed in 78?
If you are staying with the old harness, you will have to disassemble the connector (pull wire pins) to get the ol harness out of the column.
Remember the lengths are different for a power steering column and manual steering column (2.??? inches longer). There is a difference in turn signal connectors but I don't know when they switched either.

Are the guts the same?...as in the bearings/bushings...auto vs. manual columns?
73-mid 77 had some difference's in the wiring bundle, and the big plug at the bottom of the column. To use the old wiring you have to pull the pins and take the large connector off to get the wires out.
