There is no difference in steering columns between F150's thru F350's

Highboy doesn't mean a thing in this topic.

The difference between a 4x4 & 4x2 is the sliding knuckle steering shaft that connects the standard used column and the steering gear.......That's it.

Tilt was introduced in 1978,so was the removal of the NSS from the column therefore if one want to use a tilt column they have to retro fit a different NSS system.

You didn't say what year you truck is so you may have have to change even more of the column wiring harness as well.

The only direct bolt-in when it comes to tilt steering columns is from a 78/79 non-tilt to a 78/79 tilt column.

Yes they will mount up okay, it's just there are important details that need acknowledging when retro-fitting.

I understand the neutral safety switch thing. I am also doing a power steering conversion at the same time so any little tips are greatly appreciated.

shaft splines

I ran into a difference one time a long time ago, and i am sorry to say I dont remember all the details, but it was an easy fix. one of the shafts somewhere had a flat spot on the spline, and the one i was trying to use didnt. , it was splined all the way around. it took a little screwing around with a dremel, but i got it to work. If you run into that, dont get discouraged, its an easy, if tedious fix.

Power steering

Oh god dont even get me started on this... do some research, buy a NEW (or at least newly rebuilt steering box, (try mid fifty f-100) and dont let ANYONE try to tell you that you need the 1976 power steering ram(s) that go on the axle. first of all, you will NEVER find one, 2nd, when it starts to leak you cant find parts. Ive seen some trick set ups, what size tires are you going to run? Ive used a pump from a 76 mustang to turn 36's before, but it didnt last long.

Ive had quite a bit of experience with this one, and I lived in a little town in Alaska, and I would use whatever I could get my hands on.

You can put a starter from a 351C into a 351M with a bench grinder if you get my drift.
