Hey 360ranger, I learned all about the collums when I switched from standard to automatic. 73 to 76 will interchange. You need to be careful as far as power or manual steering. there is a little plate that bolts to the firewall from the engine side that helps hold the rubber gasket for the collum. That plate will be marked power or manual. The letters are probably about 1/2 an inch tall and etched in. They are a little hard to see with the plate in the truck. I have been told that the little plate that is welded to the bottom of the collum that holds it up to the bottom of the dash can be ground off moved and rewelded to make the power and manual collums interchange, but I did not actualy try that. I went to the wreckers and bout a collum for automatic with power and just bolted it right in. Expect to pay about 100 to 125 for a good collum and about 30 minutes to put it in. While you are putting it in, i would recomend changing the little rubber piece between the collum and the steering gear box. That piece was either 6 or 7 dollars at carquest. Let me know if I can answer anything else.
