If you are replacing the entire column its not that bad. You might need a steering wheel puller, but the rest should just be regular tools. If you get into the actuator you might need a pivot pin remover, but if the replacement column is complete enough it may have one in it. Give us an update if you get your column.

well i called all the junk yards around me .nobody had one for my truck but i did find a place that will have one for me tommorow. from what i,ve been told the only steering column that will work in this truck is from 92 ,93 ford pickups and bronco,s i would have thought other older or newer trucks would have worked.?

That may very well be true. I don't know all the differences in these parts. Could be something like the wipers being on the column instead of on the dash. If you approached it delicately enough you might be able to get your dealer to tell you the range of years that your particular column would fit. Then it would broaden your search criteria if this first one doesn't match like you want it to.

i picked up the complete column today had it changed in 90 minutes. the hardest part was getting the shifting cable off the steering column. the new column came with a key and everything.the only thing now i have 2 keys for truck one for the doors one for ignition no big deal though.

Too bad you couldn't get the door locks from the same vehicle.
Would have taken 93 mins total (steering column and door locks).

That being said, try the new ignition key in the passenger door. You might get lucky and have it work.....
