Got busy and started making my own...I am going to get a new tray to put in the bottom and will need to figure out a hold down. Of course this is just rough right now but, it's progress. It interferes with the hood springs, but I wasn't planning to use them. I didn't like how they seem to keep the hood up in the rear. I will use a prop rod from something at the good ole salvage yard.
This box is made from a piece of soil testing equipment that my employer was throwing away. I kept it for the bottle jack, so it was just dumb luck that it had the right dimensions for a battery box.
maybe someday I will post a picture of something finished!
I will clean up all the welds and smooth it all up, then maybe it's finally time to disassemble the front clip and get the inner fender looking good. I get tired of seeing all the dirty, rusty, crusty crap. But I like the battery box. Someone on here did one like this and I thought it was a great idea, so, whoever that was, please jump in and take some credit!

I took the easy way out. I bought a battery relocation kit from Summit and put the battery in the bed. It came with an ABS box and 20 feet of #1 sized wire for the pos, and 3 feet for the neg.
I may use a decorative wooden crate to hide it all. I have an old Acme Dynamite crate that might do the trick.
Hi Moe,
Yes I got it done. My only concern is, can the hood hinge go down all the way? I am not sure on that. If not, then I will have to figure out something different on the hood hinge or just use a prop rod from one of today's vehicles. I will post a pic. tonight. I really like how it turned out. I need a tray to set in there. Maybe a nice chrome one!

I want to put a nice battery tray in there and will need a hold down yet.
I added a couple of small angle pieces on the back side or wheel side, where the sheetmetal meets. welded it all in, sandblasted the entire inner fender, primed it and painted it with Duplicolor truck bed sprayliner. Not the best for a bedliner, but tougher than "**** can" paint. Later I may paint it with something else, but it's good for now!
I just looked at mine hood hinges don't go lower then the hood. You should have no problem with that! are you supporting it with any bracing?
No bracing, I THINK, with the inner fender rear lower bolt in place, it will be fine.
It seems pretty solid with a battery in there. But not a 100% sure on that.
After adding the box and some angle iron stiffeners, on the back, it really stiffened up the inner fender. Time will tell though.
Hey Jeff, is that a rattle can bed liner you have sprayed on your inner fender. Looks very clean and a nice texture. I used it on my trailer hitch about 3 years ago and it's holding up nicely.

Yes Sir it is. I said earler it was Duplicolor, but I goofed! It was Rustoleum bed liner! Sorry! and Thanks!
