battery tray question.

I was wondering what you people are using for battery trays in your projects. If you're lowered, are you keeping the battery under the floor? Is ride height an issue if youre lowered 4-5"? Are most guys using underhood trays? If so, what tray from who? (or is it whom? LOL)
A guy here has a '55 Belair that has a batt. tray that looks like itd be perfect for underhood. (....and theyre cheap too!!)

My 56 is lowered and I've kept the under-floor battery tray. The bottom of the tray is higher than the running board brackets, so it won't bottom out. Also, I didn't find a better location to hide the battery. I like a clean firewall.

As usual, I have to agree with Randy. I just replaced my tray which was rusted out with a Bobco custom tray, same as the stock, just a little fancier. I like mine out of the way. They just don't look right mounted tot he firewall. It's actually easy to get to through the floorboard and how often do you need to get to the battery?. I've seen several trucks using the Mustang battery mounts and mounting the battery on the right front engine compartment between the inner fender and radiator. It's a matter of choice!

I made my own out of angle iron (an old bed rail) and mounted it on the passenger side firewall just above the heater but my truck will not be for show...more of a combination of rat rod and daily driver. If you're going to show your engine compartment it will be a lot cleaner under the floor

One member refurnished an old school coke cooler and bolted it to the front floor of his box. He hid his battery there.

He actually had two coolers - one loose and used for beer, the other for the battery box!
