Carpet with battery access
I am looking at replacing the carpet in my '53. I have the battery in the stock location under the floor and plan to keep it in that location. Currently to access the battery I have to unscrew the trim that holds the carpet down before I can open the lid to the battery. even when doing that there isn't much room to access the battery. So I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that makes a carpet that allows access to the battery box.

I have Velcro sewed to an opening cut into the carpet the size of the battery box. The original lid forms the foundation. Next, take the carpet that was cut and sew Velcro on its perimeter. There is only a slight rise in the carpet. You simply pull the carpet pad off and now have easy access to the battery compartment. I place a truck floor mat over the area to prevent carpet soil.
