Battery location? Darksiders

My truck came with the short 6 cylinder battery tray. Too short and on the drivers side...no room there now.
Will the taller flatty 8 battery tray do it?
I thought about putting it behind the seat using a sealed gell battery but I really not sure I want that.
Someone on here built the battery tray into the inner fender. I liked that but will my fresh-air tube still work? I don't want it on the frame(like under the bed) because it would be a pain to deal with getting at it.
Anyone got any pics?

I'm also curious what others have done. I don't want it inside the cab like stock on a 55. I also don't want it in the engine compartment. Doesn't seem to leave many places that will be easy to get to.

For want of a better place I used the stock 56 location (pass side, under the floor) but I built a custom box with remote post locators that can be reached with a set of jumper cables. The gel-cell will need to be accessed a lot less frequently than a standard battery but if it really needs to be I'll have to flip the carpet back and go through the floor/cover. Check keithcruz's gallery for pictures of an underhood location.

I'm leaving mine in the stock location on my 56 as well. Jeff you might want to look into one of those drop boxes that mount to your frame and do the remote cable post like fatfenders56. I'll be doing that as well.

With the dual mufflers where they are I had no option but to mount mine in the bed of my old grain truck.

Yeah I was wondering about interfering with the exhaust too?

The battery box would be on the outside of the frame rail wouldn't it , should not interfere with your exhaust

Stainless steel drop-down box in the stock location...what isn't shown in this photo is the locking stash box that I built as a filler forward of the battery box. Access through the battery door in the floor or from under the truck. Pigtails coming from battery into cab for charger if necessary.

Here,s a couple of pictures. This tray is a 67-70 Ford Mustang tray. The bottom match's the angle of the fender well pretty nice.

Does that mount with only 2 bolts? I like that mount kit, it's low buck! If you got a picture available, it might help, but no need to make a special trip since your inner fender isn't the same, but I am interested in the mounting. the eBay pic only shows two bolts and that doesn't look like enough.
edit: lol ok beat me too it!

I really like that setup, but I don't have any space between my frame and running boards. My boards mount to the brackets and also to the outside of the frame. Thats cool though!

A buddy of mine has his battery mounted in the engine compartment as well...here is a photo but it doesn't do it justice because the photo doesn't show the chrome cover very well. This is a very clean install if done correctly. This particular truck has the inner fender panel notched and the battery mounting plate welded in place.
