1970 F100 FE360. I installed a new/reman Ford power steering pump and new pressure line. Right where the line connects to the back of the pump, it leaks pretty good. Fluid drips pretty good right out the coupling. Is there an o-ring between the male and female connections? Any Ideas?
It's leaking right where the fitting connects to the pump.
Take the hose off and then take out the fitting from the pump. It just unscrews & you won't hurt anything. I don't remember if it has an O ring or not but logic tells me it should or some form of sealing as in flare. If the fitting is loose that's your problem. If a flare seal it will be loose or the pump is damaged internally. If O ring or similiar gasket make sure it has the gasket or just replace it.
the threads on your hose fitting or where it screws into the gearbox are worn...get some yellow teflon tape (solvent safe) and apply it to the fitting threads. also make sure the flare on the end of the hose is good...if its not good, flat and round it will never seal. if there is no flare you may need an o-ring...or could be that someone before you put the wrong hose on the truck...did you keep the old hose? if so, check to see that the new one is the same...parts store folks sometimes give you the wrong parts and some replacement parts are crap.
Both the line/fitting and pump are new. It's either leaking out where the fitting is threaded to the back of the pump or where the line come out the fitting. The pump and gearbox are fine. I've checked all over online and there's never mention of a o-ring. I'll try to back out the fitting and tighten it again.
if it's a repo line there's your problem , like said before get some yellow teflon tape .
i've had 3 different repo hose on my 66 mustang p/s all leaked , only a little but if you're like me a little is to much when it comes to leaks .
