Is it the stick on type? They have a battery in them that needs to be changed.

I don't think so it's the one on the outside of the drivers door.

stick on's where/ccould be on the door, mine is, is it about 3/4 inch thick or thin like less than 1/4 inch. The thick one has a battery. the thin one is hard wired I believe.

I would imagine the "stick on"types are aftermarket or dealer installed accessories on other vehicles. If it is one, definately check the battery. however, according to my Source books, all years of Excursions came Standard with the keyless system.

Does it have power? Does it light up when you press a key? If so, then try the original factory code.

If the factory code does not work, and it does have power, then the keypad is probably the problem and would need replacement.

If no power, then check the fuses that operate it. Also check the wires and grounds for that circuit.

So I replaced my key pad and mine still does not work.

press buttons it lights up but that's it. it will not lock or unlock. it was at first intermittent now I it just does not work at all.

any other ideas?

I think I have a bad connection or bad plug in. now that it's warm it is working fine. I bought a new key pad and still did not fix it.
