I have a 08 SD that I bought from a Ford dealer about a year ago. I took the truck into a differnt dealer today for a coolant leak. They looked at it and right away told me that the venturi valve is installed backwards causing radiator failure. This recall was done by the original selling dealer before I bought the truck. Could this being installed backward, white stripe toward engine not resevior bottle, cause the radiator failure? If so, what causes the failure? Trying to gain knowlage before I go to selling dealer tomorrow. Is there a site that I can look up recall work preformed on my truck?
If you go to the parts desk at any ford dealer they can give you an oasis report which will show all warranty work performed on the truck, it should be free.
On the venturi T there are arrows and writing. This is a recall item. So it should all be fully covered. I'd have them check the thermostats as they are most likely damaged as well.
Call ford cust svc about this and ask for a bumper to bumper on the radiator for future failures.
Took the truck in this morning. They agreed that they installed the tee backwards and that the radiator needed to be replaced. They took full responsibility and are covering all the costs for radiator, tee, and t-stats.
(even though they will probably run it through Ford)
