Performance/MPG Chip
Performance/MPG Chip
So I am new to this site and also very inexperienced when it comes to performance chips. I am looking for a performance/MPG enhancer chip or program for my 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT and I would appreciate any and all help.
Thank You,
Travis

Contrary to the way they may be advertised, you're not going to find a single program that will increase HP/performance AND at the same time improve fuel economy. That being said, the SCT tuners are likely compatible with your 2007 and can have multiple programs loaded allowing you to relatively quickly switch from a performance tune to a economy tune.
I've gone with Torrie at Unleashed Tuning for my performance tunes and SCT tuner.

Thank you for the tips and options. I have looked at the products and regarding the SCT tuners, would it be best to get one with preloaded programs, because i would want one that could get the best fuel economy out of my truck and also ones just for performance purposes. Would it be wise to change the programs on the vehicle for certain things, or would i want to set one and leave it?

I have seen several tunes that increased performance and fuel economy at the same time.
As for the SCT tuners, they are serialized for you particular vehicle and they will have pre-loaded tunes for you vehicle based on what types of tunes you want. If you do not have the calibration information for your truck you may need to have the SCT shipped to you first to access the calibration information, provide that code back to the supplier, then they will e-mail you the appropriate tune files for you to upload to the tuner which you can then upload to the vehicle. The parameters that you can adjust are few, such as calibrating wheel size, adjusting pinion size, altering the speed limiter, and minor changes to spark timing, shift pressure, and shift points under WOT.
