I got my first diesel about 4 months ago and love the truck, but the truck milage has seemed to go down, and seems like I am blowing out white smoke. The turbo will fart every once and awhile and if I step on the truck ,takes a long time to get rpms up then just jumps up. The truck runs great once it is good and warmed up, but is a dog when it is cold jerky and no throttel response. No mods. Any help would be great.
truck is an 04 with 155,000 miles, no coolant lose runs good when it is warmed up. Its just wierd if I leave the truck sit and step on it's really slow to reach high rpms then just jumps like turbo isn't winding up quick enough. I am just new to diesel and want some info before I take it to a shop don't want to get scamed no codes or lites only mod is 4 " magnaflow exhaust no chips.
When you say no codes, did you use a scanner? The CEL doesn't have to be on for it to have codes stored.

You just need a #20 torx bit, a voltmeter, and someone to turn the key.
There is no magic answer for the issue you describe. It could be several things that need to be eliminated. One step at a time.
You don't have a temperature gauge for the EGT so, no, it won't read EGT (pyro). Similarly you don't have a fuel pressure transmitter - unless you have added one.
