That should be the black screen holder. You can use a pick or a small pair of needle nose to pull it out. Shouldn't take much force.

So I replaced the HPO seal in injector #1 which was clearly bad.

I reinstalled it and did an air test. There was still a sound coming from the area of #1 injector.

I pulled #1 and #2 injector. Inspected them and they both look good.

Is there something else I should check? Should I try putting it back together and see if it works?

Is there a port in the HPO rail that I can do an airtest on so i don't have to do the test from the top of the HPOP?

was the valve covers off when you put air to it and checked it again

If it were me and I had it that far apart I would be putting in new stand pipes dummey plugs and STC fitting and be done with it

valve cover was off when I checked. It is a 2003. Is the STC issue for 2004's?

No STC in an 04. I agree with Benny. Replace your stand pipes and dummy plugs while you're in there.

That is, if it's a late 04 engine.

You have the W oil rail right? I don't remember the cutoff date when they changed from the 03 to the 04 engine in the 04 trucks.

My oil rail is straight, and intake manifold is an O

What are stand pipes and dummy plugs? Can they cause HPO leaks?

oh ypou dont even have an STC fitting

your HPO system is way diff then

I thought this was an 05+ style HPOS

man your HPO system is the style that usually the pump fails but not much eles

so you just feel the air around the #1 injector where the oil rail goes into the top of the injector

could be a bad injector just letting the oil go thru it

LOL--I guess you didn't see the injector pic Benny. He had a d-ring blown out of the top of his injector. Hopefully when he gets that replaced he can retest and find out that's his only problem.

Steve--Your standpipes are different and you don't have dummy plugs in the HPO rails. That upgrade doesn't apply to your truck.

I did fix the d-ring and I am still hearing air. Pulled all the injectors and the HPO seal that was bad on the first one looks ok on the rest.

Just borrowed a stethescope from my neighbor. Thank God I live next to someone addicted to buying tools.

I'll see if I can locate the problem any closer.

You mentioneed that you still hear air from around injector #1 after replacing the oring
the top oring has been replaced on that injector so we know that one is good
but I wonder if the Injector itself is bad on the oil side of the injector could be that the spool valve is stuck open just letting Air/oil run thru it

since I have all the injectors out I am going to put them back in reverse order. If the sound moves to the back of the engine then I can assume that it is the injector which was #1 and is now #7

since the injectors are out maybe you can just take the one injector in question and blow air into it at the top hole and see if it bleeds out the oil drain on the side of the injector
