5 speed shifter removal

Hi this is my first thread and i would like to know how to get the shifter off the top of the transmission ,there is a threaded bolt that goes through the end of the shifter with a nut on ,how do you get the bolt out, i need to remove to take transmission out to replace the clutch

Remove the nut and thread onto the other end of the bolt. As you tighten the nut, it pulls the bolt out. Providing this is an M5OD transmission.

It should have 2 nuts on it (Hahaha)....One tightens the "Bolt" (Its more of a tapered dowel pin)....And the other loosens it up...

Btw...Make sure its in Neutral before removal.....

I know this thread is old

I know this is an old thread, but as stated in the above posts, I removed the bolt at the base of the shifter, and it is still stuck to the stub. Has anyone have this happen? I have been trying to remove the shifter now for three days, sprayed it down a lot with PB Blaster still will not come off. I am concerned about using heat.

You do not have to remove the shifter lever from the stub, you could just take the 3 bolts out of the cover and remove the entire thing.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try again tonight after work. The thing I think I am remembering is 1 of the 3 bolts is directly under that knuckle area the bolt goes through so I am not sure I can get a tool on that bolt.
