You've been reading too many Marvel comic books. For those of us w/o super powers, it takes me more than 30 mins to grind the fittings to get a good weld. Cheers. k

I guess I just don't know what yours looks like (post pic) to take 3 hours to build. I guess i do have super powers. You must have super mind control powers to have someone pay you 100 bucks for a heat plate. By all means if someone wants to pay you that then let them. We could go round and round over this, lets don't. So cheers to you sir

F-250 restorer, count me happy right alongside timmytim240. Received the plate for my offy c monday. And it came in my favorite color to boot. Thanks a ton for the info and help! Will not have a chance to do the install until September. Boss (read wife) has me scheduled out. Don't like it but in this economy got to keep my job. I'll post pictures when I do get it installed.

OMGoodness--I tried a tig machine! I don't know how I lived all the time w/o it.

When I get 'writer's brain', from sitting at a computer for 6+ hours, I go and play with my new toy, in the real world.

Does a Clifford intake even have somewhere to attach the heat riser or a plate?

The old Clifford intakes have a small 'compartment' for the coolant to be run through. Iirc, it takes 4 bolts to attach. The newer Clifford intakes, however, have the heating/cooling provision built in, you simply install fittings and attach your hoses.

The template gasket is FelPro - MS90157-1
O'Riley had it in stock.. weird.
Do you guys think 1/4 pipe will work sufficiently?

Just use 3/8" galvanized pipe, an eight inch nipple is fine, with 3/8" elbows. That way the heater hose can be put on without a hose bib fitting. Just cut off the threads on that side and bevel the edge with a grinder. Use the gasket as template and mark/drill holes. Drill the fluid holes staggered, one further forward toward the single hole side. I drill those about 3/8". Angle the pipe toward the corners like the photo in the thread. Take the plate and elbows and pipe to a shop and have them put weld the elbows to the plate. Just mark them with a felt pen so they know how to align. Then have them put a bead around where the pipe threads into the elbow. But gasket material and use the gasket again to make a gasket, apply rtv to each side, and away you go. That is exactly what I've been running for 3+ years.

Unlike the photos, have a weld/bead put around the threads on the tubes too. You want the the pipes angling out, and both tubes should be long so they clear the bottom of the intake, away from heat and easy to check and tighten the hose clamps, etc. k
