Remote Starter Question

Can you use any remote starter for a diesel? I don't see the need to spend $500 for a viper when i have mechanical windows, mechanical door locks, no security system, no nothing except AC. I'm basically thinking of those one button Avital 4113's for $150ish. I have Avital 4113's on two of my other cars and don't have any issues what so ever for two years now. But they don't generally say if they are Diesel friendly, Anybody know if most remote starters are diesel friendly?

You can use them, just get one that you can do a start delay, that way your glow plugs will have enough time when it is cold out.

As far as I know you just need one that has a 30-60 second timer. (For the glow plugs.)

I bought some cheap one off Ebay several years ago. It has a built in timer that was adjustable to allow the glow plugs to cycle. The range of the remote isn't super great but it has worked just fine so far. I'm pretty sure I paid under 100 bucks for it at the time.

i bought a cheap ebay remote starter. Most have a setting for diesels anyway.
all it usually is either a timer or a trigger wire. Mine had a diesel setting, and had a trigger for "start" and could be set to either start when triggered, or start when untriggered. it also had a wire that hooked to parking brake so that when you applied the parking brake, then shut off truck that it would turbo time for a minute before shutting off the truck. Pretty cool i thought
