And my old '67 Chevelle SS had factory "crossed flag" 427 emblems (exact same as the 396 ones, just three different numbers, but the 427 ones came on Impala SS) on it's 1976 Mack Truck Fleet Blue painted body ... and it was just a wore out 396 /325 until I swapped in the 454 along with tri-power from a '68 Vette that had burned up, with a set of Holley float bowls off of a wrecked Mopar 440-6 on it .... but there it was ... at a "cruise in" some years after I sold it, a super rare find the plaque said.
Was a gorgeous car, OEM light tinted green windows because it was factory AC .... with a 4 spd.

The 428 CJ was a factory option in the 73 F-250. I currently have one sitting in my driveway. It has the 428 CJ factory plaque on the side of the fender.
Yes, we’d love to see pictures!
And please include the first digits, including the engine code, in the VIN.

A few years back, I drove into a remote mountainous area of California, approx 80 mi south of the Oregon border to look at a 1970 F250 4x4 highboy. That engine looked to me like a SCJ 390 police interceptor engine.
It had what appeared to be the alum intake with a MC 4100 4-bbl. The drivetrain was intact, but the cab was rusted out, and it had a service box. I couldn't pull the trigger, even for $2,500.
I've a '71 Ford 2wd F250 with a '66 Merc 410 or 428, not sure yet on bore size. I don't drive it but fire it up on occasion.
Probably should let it go to a new owner and sell it.
Now then, speaking of 429's, I'm running a 385 series 429 in my '78 E250 Chateau 4x4 wagon.
The E250 window van was a 9-passenger van rated GVWR of 9,800 lbs, so is a BUS, not SchoolBus.
Because of the weight class, it came with the industrial 429 engine badged as a 460. _ _ uh huh.
I had sent the supposed 460 to a local reputable engine builder to have him balance it and install hyper pistons to up the compression to 9:1, and running Crane dual spring valve-train with mid-range cam and roller rockers.
The Van with the 429 is a kick to drive with the C6 auto and NP205 T-case. I'm running 285 - 16 BFG mudders on Alcoa's.
With the 4:10 gearing, I can run it like a 2-spd powerglide, starting in 2nd. _ LoL
The above photos showcase the 429 powered '78 Ford E250 Chateau wagon.
I converted it to 4x4 in 1993 My two daughters drove the Stomper-Van in high school early 2000's, then it got put into mothballs for 17-years, and given a mechanical D0-Over 2021 thru 2024. _ kick in the butt to drive.
I'd love to have a profesionally balanced and built 428 SCJ in a 73 Ford Highboy or High-Bred.
I've settled in on the 395 series 429 engine for spirit.

You misunderstood me maybe. I knew the Chevelles history from new, and it just surprised me that there it was in a show, with so many wrong assertions.
i do hear you.in my case i purchased the chevelle brand new for under $4.000.00 the vette, well that was also new and more like 6k sold them this year with the oe documentation , you and i know we had the real mc coys not something someone made up
like you my chevelle turned up at a local show, trying to say it was a barn find , guy saw me fired up and left real fast
One of my friends bought a 1970 LS6 Chevelle new and he told me he traded it in for a new 1973 Chevy 2500 4wd.
He said when he and his best friend were out elk hunting and even with chains on the back tires and positraction he couldn't get his Chevelle far enough into the back country on the muddy roads it was time for an upgrade.
OH yea .... and when posting them I get to review mine, again. I'm sure you weren't looking for non Dent pics, but I miss this car and love looking at it still. I'm shameless like that.
454 in a SS396 with 427 badges and three Mopar 440-6 carbs, but Tri power float bowls.
There is a Dent Side .... My FIL's '77 F-250.
Yeah, it too had Unity Fog Lights. I removed the grill badge as it said SS with 396 under it, and they never made that badge with 427 on it. I did later put it back, but after removing the 396 part.
And original AC, in a 4 spd car. It maybe had tilt wheel and cruise by then.
