I am comfortable getting in there. I used to be a technician before I made the change to management. I never got to into the diesels and it is a little like uncharted waters for me. Plus the frustration that I just got the truck and it is acting up on me. I will go after the Valve Covers this weekend I think.

Also, does anyone know if the Dorman harnesses are updated with the connectors that don't come apart?? Just wondering in case I need to get one. I'm in Alaska so I need to be prepared if I need parts.

Thanks to all.

The Dorman harnesses are a lot tighter fitting than my OEM were, but I still stuck quarters in there.

Well here is the deal. I opted to stick to my expertise in gasoline vehicles and took my Powerstroke to a very reputable shop for diagnosis. My decision was made because winter is quickly approaching and I do not have indoor space to work. The verdict for the P1316 code is reman injectors. Although the valve covers did not get removed the shop tested the Driver Module and when cleared the codes come right back for almost all the injectors. They said they have seen this problem before when all injectors are replaced with reman. They recommended replacing with new to solve the problem.

At this point the truck runs good and I am going to deal with the light coming on from time to time and save the money for now.

What do you guys use for injectors if I decide to tackle this in the spring??

Where did you get the remans that are in it? How many miles on those.

As for injectors I would only buy from some reputable places, I have and will some more I'm sure gone with Casserly's through Clay.

Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: Diesel fuel injectors | Ford Powerstroke fuel injectors | 7.3L Fuel Injector - Full Force Diesel / Casserly

He also sells brand new alliants(OEM)

Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: Alliant Stock Injectors | Diesel fuel injectors | Ford Powerstroke fuel injectors | 7.3L Fuel Injector - Alliant

If you could handle sending them off they can flow test yours and determine what needs to be done, and some of the cost from testing can be applied towards injectors if you buy from them.

I have no idea what brand they are or how long they have been in there. I got the truck used about 2 months ago. I tried to call the guy I bought it from to ask him. No call back yet.

The truck runs good and the shop said I would be okay with the only issue being the check engine light that comes on and off.

Maybe in the spring I will tear into it and get them tested or replaced.
