I'm going to try George. It was 84 here yesterday. It's supposed to be in the low 60s today and drop into the 30s by the weekend. Looks like winter's on its way.
'tis the season, John. I want to go down to Stuart this week but, trying to duck the raindrops. Plus trying to get a lot of things done before leaving.
Well as far as I know, I'm staying put. No big plans for me. It's back to work on dayshift Friday through Sunday, then off for two days, and back to dayshift Wednesday and Thursday. Then it's off for three days and back into midnight shift. God I can't wait to retire.
Morning Chandler. I knew a guy once, when asked when he was going to retire would say "2 years, 24 day, and (looking at his watch), 4 hours 14 minutes, and 24 seconds, 23, 22,etc"
13 years if I stay where I am Chandler. If I go to another department with the early retirement / hazardous duty supplement, it'll be 8 years. And I'm looking. Our department won't even consider the early retirement package so I'll probably look at making a move this year. It amounts to about $2800 per month difference in pension.
Sure is. Especially when you consider having to pay your insurance after you retire. To stay on my current employer's plan after retirement will cost me around $350 per month which takes quite a chunk out of a monthly pension. The difference in the two retirement packages makes that a little easier to live with. Plus, at a few of the departments I'm looking at, they pay your insurance after you retire as part of your benefits package.
I'm at the point in my career where I need to begin looking at the end of the line to make sure that things are secure for my wife and me and our future.
That darn insurance is a b--ch. When I retired I was paying $160 a month/ family plan. Now it's over $760/month. That cuts down a lot on my "buying toys" funds.
George, we've got guys working now that have $990 per month taken out of their pay to cover the family plan. When they retire, if they keep the same plan, it's right at $1340 per month. And I will tell you, with our current pension plan payout, that will leave them in the hole by about $5 each month.
i've been out of work long enough - i can't wait to finish my degree's and get back to work - being Mr. Mom gets real old real quick
as to the insurance i wonder how that is going to change in feb when that health care lunacy takes affect - couldn't tell from reading the bill + some aspects have been invalidated already
Good morning all, lovin the change in the weather here! hopin it holds out for a bit...not lookin' forward to the Extreme Cold i keep hearin' is coming our way :-(
