Update for white smoke!!!

Well, for those of you that replied to my first post...Took truck to Ford today and it was good/bad news. Truck had 8qts of oil missing, lol. After adding that, they did a diagnosis. 6 injectors are not constributing. So I guess I will be saveing some $ up to replace them. Anyone ever buy injectors from ebay?

LOL, no oil, gee, who would have thought of that one, obviously not my X-mechanic. By the way, $117 is what Ford charged for today, getting the oil changed tomorrow at Ford for $75.

Which motor is in your truck? 8 qts missing out of any of them is bad.

2000 7.3.......They said there are some leaks, but not bad enough to dump oil, been 7K since last oil change

Sounds like you ay need to do injector o-rings that's my first thought, is your fuel filter dark and sooty looking yet?

you sure the leaks aren't that bad? You could have one dripping straight onto ground that isn't making a mess everywhere

I'm surprised the truck ran with 8qts low. that is downright scary

7.3's will run with only abought 4 ATS in the pan untill rpm gets up to 2k or ^so than they just starve out the HPOP and defuel themselfs mechanically while billowing unburned white smoke, till oil refills the sump then off to the races till 2k ect....I see it on the freeway all the time!

Yes it can but using a long lead is preferable to help purge out any air.

Or run them all the same and get a Fuel rail crossover to eliminate the dead head. Personally I would only buy off of Ebay if they were being sold by Swamps, Casserly(FullForce), or a few others, heard way too many things bad about Pennsacola Diesel regarding the HEUI injectors.
