will a bad icp cause white/blue smoke but its not unburnt diesel its oil i can smell it and i am sure its oil and will the icp crap out with no warning oh yea buy the way i went to a local junk yard and got 8 injectors the uvc harrness and the vc gaskets and a 120 volt idm for 120 bucks but the idm was no good so they gave me back 40$ not bad for 80 bucks too bad about the idm sorry i needed to tell someone back to the icp and the smoke any help would be great thanks guys
I agree not the ICP but could be injector o-ring cut between the oil passage and the fuel passage on your injector. The oil would pressure into the fuel then oil would be injected also.
And you got 8 injectors for $80!!! Want to see if they have anymore and I will buy them and pay you for your time? thats insane!!
sorry tj they were towing it in when i was there i go there 2 or 3 times a month to see whats new i just lucked out on that one but i will keep my eye out for you
Ok BBW you said in your PM that the truck sat for about 2 years. and that since then you have done the DIY injectors. Was the truck smoking before your injectors were done? I am guessing it smoke pretty constant now? How about at idle? Also it would be best if you can update your sig to list everything you have done to your PSD as far as mods. Or atleast list them in this thread so we can see what we have. How many miles are on the truck? get back to with those answers and we'll see what we have.
ok lets see i have done fpr shim hpx tymar intake 110 volt idm when i first got it the idm was no good got the 110 idm ran fine no smoke did the hpx and intake and shim allgood a few weeks later i started to notice some smoke while driving and stated to get worse so i parked it an ordered the stage 1 kit from diy thinking it was the orings on the injectors so after doing that i thought that would fix the problem but i was wrong now on start up its seems fine but once up to temp the smoke billows out the pipe i can smell its oil is it possable that the injectors were junk to start with me just being a fool and in a rush to fix it did not have the injectors checked out before i rebuilt them and tried to mod bad injectors
Pull your intake tubing off and check your turbo for excess play in/out and up/down. I am wondering is the turbo is going bad and leaking oil into the exhuast. When the engine is cold no burning oil, hot engine burning oil lots of smoke. I don't think you have injector issues at this point. if you did you would be more likely to have more smoke at start up than after warmed up.
Well ok. shoots that idea for the most part. To verify that its not oil coming from the turbo might be worth a try to remove the downpipe clamp and push the DP away far enough to get your finger in there to check for raw oil. I doubt you will find any but its a free check!
I guess at this point (assuming you don't find any oil in the exhaust) you have two options. the first is to put new o-rings on your stage ones and try it again. two is to o-ring you new junk yard injectors and see what happens. if you don't have smoke then you either still have o-rings that aren't sealing on the stage 1's or you have a bum injector. Before I did either I would call Jim at RDS/DIY and pick his brain about possible causes from the injector stand point. then I would probably o-ring the junk yard injectors and see what happens. The fact that the smoke also happened prior to the stage 1's leads me to believe that it could be a worn injector.
ok i will order new orings for the junk yard ones and see what happenes once there in i will repost when this is done and see where i am at i thank you a 100000000 times tj you are a great help i hope i can get this problem licked thanks again i will keep you in the loop
rep points if i find injectors in the junk yard again all he has to do is pay what i payed at the junk yard and the shipping cost no labor i dont even care if i have to take them out of a van agian no labor for the fisher of men that just would not be right and belive me tj i will look for you
lol, uhhh I meant you should add rep points to Tj's profile. go to one of Tj's post's in this thread and click on the scale lookin deal in the top right corner of his thread reply box. Leave hima comment and send it in. Rep points are just another way to say thanks to those that give ya a hand. I wish others would do it more often, especially for the guys like Tj, Cuda_jim, Rubberduck, Cookie, etc.,
