I think the starter probably only spins the motor at 100 rpm's or so. When you dump the clutch your motor is instantly turning 500-1500 rpm's! Big difference! I would have the icp monitored while cranking! Where are you? Maybe someone close by has an ae can help you out! The brotherhood is good about that!!
I'm in East Lyme Ct....you have no idea what I went through....I'm cruising at 80 from Cocoa Fl heading for Myrtle Beach...truck running like a bear...every once in a while I'd smell diesel but I carry 75 gal. in a tank in the bed so I figured that was what it was. The only way I found it was the next day when I went out and turned on the heater(Jan in SC), diesel smell heavy, popped the hood and it was pushing out the recovery tank. They suggested cups so... Step 1, replace them.( hung around garage for every step they did). Jumped up on expressway run 10 miles out and back...quart diesel in coolant. Couldn't get heads fluxed for 2 weeks so, I put 2 new heads on, had to get out of there and off I went. Now I'm pulling a MC trailer, 65 mph top speed. Back home, with a 12k 12 month warranty, cost me another 600.00 for testing and nobody could find problem. I gave up on that, found the problem myself, up pipes loose. Little gunshy about going back to any stealership now, that's why I'm on here....guess it was a crack, will never know for sure
P.S,,, they flashed the chip I had, I'm filling out paperwork and mech. got the scanner on it, found an update and .....see ya.
