If I replace the VSS, would I need to replace the one on the rear axle housing or the tranny or both?

When I test out my trucks or cars by jacking them up and letting them high idle(pull out a vacuum line for a high idle) in gear, most would get up to 30 to 45 MPH! Just be SAFE around those moving wheels/axles! I knocked my tool box under a spinning wheel, that thing sure flew a distance out scattering tools every place.....

There is a capacitor on the PSOM main pc board that can leak onto the PSOM pc board, dammaging the pc board. For me is caused no cruse control functions and hard shifting(E4OD tranny) for my 95 E350 bus.

Also the ABS light is lite up, try to pull the codes for ABS/RABS that could give you more info to what's going on.

You only have one VSS and it is on the rear axle housing.

Some have just taken the VSS out and wiped it off and it was good to go again for a while. But if you have junk floating in the rear end oil it will not be long until it is covered again and the bearings give up.

Note also that you more than likely have a 4R70W transmission and it also has a OSS on it but that sensor has nothing to do with the PSOM or RABS signal.

Well, I broke down and went to the parts store. I live 15 miles from town so I usually only go when I need something badly. I was out of milk, so I purchased a VSS while I was out. I got home, crawled under the truck and, what to my wondering eyes did appear? The VSS was unplugged!!! I sprayed it with electronic cleaner, sprayed the connector and plugged it in. The speedometer, odometer and cruise control all work, now. I re-plugged the RABS behind the glove box and the light is no longer on!
I came here looking for answers to what my trouble may have been and all your wonderful advice led to my discovery. To be truthful, before this post, I wasn't sure what the VSS did. Even though it was a simple fix, I learned a lot. Thanks to you all!
Bob
