Hello guys, i have a quick question. I replaced the solenoid on the fender of the truck , becuase it wasnt starting unless i crossed it over. My battery checks out good, but wont start because it says my amperage is low/battery light on in the dash. But when i booost it, it stays runnning but not for long. Is there something wrong with the alternator? Because i changed the voltage peice on the back of it. Its a 1993 F150 4 speed manual with the 300 six cylinder. Can the alternator from a 92 5.0 F150 fit it?
How are your grounds???? I run a double ground from the battery to the engine and battery to the frame...
The voltage regulator isn't the only thing that can go wrong with a alternator... Do you have a internal fan or external fan on the alternator? have you had it off to bench test at a parts store like O'reillys? and have you had a draw down test on the battery?
