I've done some searching and haven't really found much. To convert from column shift to floor, would it be as easy as finding a c6 equipped with floor shift linkage? If so which vehicles do I need to be looking to strip?....yes, I know I will have to cut my floors.
the quickest way to do it is to fit a hurst or b&m selector, they fit up with very little work and have built in inhibitor switches makeing it easy, but of course they are not standard so if thats what you have in mind you'll have to find an original unit
the selector should be straight forward ,not sure how the inhibitor switch attaches
Yeah I saw a b&m that I want to get. I just don't know about the linkage. Wouldn't it need stock linkage to hook to, or do they come with the linkage needed.
hopefully the universal shifters have a work-around for this, but you may need to flip the linkage on the transmission. here's some text i copied from a post somewhere. i have not verified this, so your mileage may vary:
it sounds like the shift lever on the trans is facing down the way a column shift rod attaches and a floor shift attaches with the trans lever facing up. If this is the case, and you need to change this (going from column to floor shift) you need to pull the pan, valve body and loosen the lock nut on the shift lever. Pull it out and turn it 180 and put it back in making sure the inside shift lever is engaged correctly like it was before pulled out. This is fairly simple. Make sure the valve body is torqued properly. Might as well replace the filter, fluid, and pan gasket while it's apart.
I removed the pan ,unbolted the valve body and undid the nut that holds the transmission external selector bracket on, then i welded one of the supplied brackets to the original selector bracket and refitted it to transmission,all this sounds a bit scary if your not used to working on autos but it is really very straight forward
the mounting bracket for the cable comes in kit and bolts straight up to the pan bolts , don't let it scare you its worth the effort
Several other aftermarket shifter options are made by Lokar. They are more expensive but the installation seems to be all bolt on with no modifications. They make both floor and transmision mounted shifters. I have a transmision mounted shifter on its way that I am putting in my 69 F250 Highboy. Should be here 26SEP, so hopefully I can get it on and post some pictures.

Flip, I converted my 68 to a c6 in 1980 using a B&M Quick Silver. If you are going to get one order it with the 5' cable which makes it easier to route around the rear of the transmisson to the shift lever and away from the exhaust pipe. They are also available with a longer handle for trucks, these shifters are pain to hook up and adjust but well worth the effort.
