Hello Guys.
For some reason i have to do an engine "transplant" (sorry for the vocabulary, I am a doctor)...as i was saying an engine swap on my 69 Ford F-250 Camper Special V8 360 Auto.
The thing here is that I´m living in The Caribbean and is very hard to find replacement parts for this old truck, not to mention an engine and importing one from the states could end more expensive than trying to repair the one i have.
So my question to you: Is there any other Ford vehicle with an engine suitable for do a transplant into this pickup truck without doing many changes? I mean, i would prefer a "plug and play type" and do not end changing tranny, axle, and so many parts. Maybe an engine from a Crown Vic. or Explorer , don´t know.
360 is an FE engine so an FE has to go back in if you wish to keep the same trans. 352, 360, 390 or 428 will fit. Any other engine, you have to change the trans, too. I would rebuild the 360.

And do you know what other vehicles carries the FE engine besides the F series?
So what is the engine access like in the D. Republic? You can put another FE in the truck, or change to a 302, 351 or even a 300 straight 6, too, as long as you find an engine/transmission combination...these motors use the small block C6 auto, whereas your transmission is a big block FE C6. The small block swap is do-able with a driveshaft modification and they get modestly better mpg than an FE...they just won't pull a house down like an FE (with the exception of the 300 straight 6). Guess it really depends on what's available in your area in the way of used engines. Some folks have swapped in 4 and 6 cyl. diesels with some success, too.
tmcalavy: Well, i know for sure i can find any relatively modern Ford vehicles motor like those in the Explorer or F-150, but find a Fe engine will be tough. Maybe I can put an engine from a old F-150 model but I need to find out what´s the best year suitable to my 69 F-250.
they where put into some Fords 1958/71, some 1961/71 Merc's and put in some 1965/76 F100/350's.
The FE engines installed in 1958/64 Passenger Cars have a different engine block bolt pattern for the engine mounts than 1965/71 FE Passenger Cars, 1965/76 FE F100/350's.
So you do not want a 1958/64 FE engine because you'll have to fab up brackets that will accept 1965/76 FE engine mounts (steel/rubber insulators).
1958/64 FE engines have rounded valve covers without holes in them for oil caps or a smog valve. There's an oil fill tube on the right (passenger) side.
1965/76 FE engines have pent roofed shaped valve covers with holes in them for oil caps/smog valve.
The 360 & 390 share the same bore (4.05"), the stroke is different. 3.50" for the 360, 3.78" for the 390.
To convert a 360 to a 390 is simple. All one needs is the 390's crank, rods, pistons and rings. EVERYTHING else is the same.
