Swapping EFI components into '86

Like the title says, I have a carburated 86 F-150 with a 4.9L. I have another 4.9L from 1992 with all the EFI components and harness still attached. Has the swap been done before? Is it as easy as powering up the EFI computer and attaching a harness? I can't imagine it's that easy or I'd have heard about it. Anyone have some advice on this one?

The answer to this one is that it's that easy. Hook it up and let it rip. Thanks for all the help on this one folks.

Didn't know the answer but have thought about it myself. Thanks for the heads up.

I was wondering about this also, except mine is a v8 engine

however I was wondering about fuel tanks and fuel pumps

Where is the electric fuel pump located on the EFI models?

I have two tanks and was wondering also how does the switch over (or where it occur) and would this still function if I went to EFI?

On the EFI models, the fuel pumps are located in the tank.

As for the tank, it depends on the year. I know on Broncos, the 80 - 89 tanks had a 2" sending hole, and the 90 - 96 tanks had a 3 5/8"

I wondered about that to, weather you could just use a external high volume pump instead of swapping tanks. I know aftermarket EFI's use them.
