injector question

So i know there are 2 different injectors used in the 6.0. my question is there a way to visually tell the difference if you have 2 side by side. basically i have an early 04 truck and 1 injector is acting up, i do have 6 good injectors at home but cant remember which style they are. i can look at my invoice and see what the last part number installed at the dealer was but it doesnt help me determine what i have at home, and they have no part number with them. any help would be great. Thanks Brian

I also have a early 04. I accidentally got the newer style injector and put it in with the older type. After 30k I have had zero issues with it at all. So either is fine imo.

The early style injectors will have a white wire retainer on the top, and the later will have black ones. The injector in these illustrations is an early style.

This is Ford's position, but MANY people who know the 6.0L very well say that you can mix them without any issues.

Since we're talking about new/old style injectors....

Does anyone know if 4C3Z-9E527-AA (I assume the newest) is the same as Navistar 1846692C92? I've seen 6 different part numbers listed from Navistar (1843089C91, 1845879C91, 1843481C94, 1843481C95, 1844751C2, 1846692C92), but the only thing I come up with is Navistar 5010120R91 as a match to 4C3Z-9E527-AA (listed as a "kit"). Got that out of an Excel spreadsheet that's been passed around here a couple of times....and has to be at least 3 years old.

Using the same spread sheet I came up with Ford 3C3Z-9E527-AE crosses over to a Navistar 5010117R91. My biggest question is, does anyone really know which is the right Navistar injector? My local Navistar dealership wants a serial/VIN before they'll "help me". Figure if I've got the right part number, they can kiss my rear-end as far as a VIN goes.

Well it drives better now then when I first picked up my truck. Smooth execration and on the highway as smooth as butter.

The drive shaft was way out.
The hanger bearing was warn out.
The rear u-joint was sloppy.
The other two u-joints were replaced as so I don't have to worry for awhile.
