I have a feeling it's going to be hit or miss for a while. We are expecting our first child early April so I've got a few other projects I'm trying to wrap up before then. However my goal is to be able to get the bed completed and back onto the truck before next spring, but only time will tell how that will go.

You inspired me to get some work on my 85 done.
Which was not much/ I got the left suspension off a parts truck and cleaned them up and put Pour 15 on them. Have yet to get the rightside ones and do the same. It will have all new bushings and ball joints. Since the old front on my 85 is so badly worn.
It was nice doing something i like in stead of all the home projects to be done around here.
Next spring hope to get the right side done and painted and installed.
Bought another parts truck with a decent box for my 85. Most are rusted. I got the whole truck for $400. Been parked for 15 years since it was in an accident that bent the frame.

I know I've seen it on here somewhere but I'm having troubles finding it again, I'm looking for the dimensions of my fuel tank in order to figure out which one I have. I'm looking at replacing my fuel sending unit and want to make sure I buy the correct. All input is appreciated, thanks.

So actually got some more accomplished on the truck this weekend. I got off a little early on Friday so I stopped by LMC truck on the way home and picked up a set of new front coil springs. I priced a few different sets off of Amazon etc...and found that they were priced within a few dollars of LMC so I choose that route since they are local for me and I could work on it that day. After doing a little inspecting from the box that said made in the good ole USA it has a part number that matches up with MOOG part numbers so I was thrilled with that discovery. Here you can see the difference in the springs from the stock ones that I blasted and cleaned up compared to the new ones installed.

I wasn't quite sure these were gonna keep the front fenders from rubbing on the tires but I was wrong, they worked out perfect. And I'm sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures but you guys get the idea.

I also picked up a new to me chrome air cleaner off a truck my older sister had sitting around. I placed it in my dads blast cabinet over our Xmas break to rough it up put a coat of primer on it as well as some John Deere Blitz black. This paint has to be some of the best paint my dad and I have used. It sprays nice and has an awesome satin finish. The best part is you can pick it up at your local John Deere dealer. And again sorry for the crappy cell phone picture in the engine compartment.

Next up are the chrome valve covers, and the underside of the hood.

After:

And last but not least, an awesome Xmas gift from my wife that will allow me to track everything I do for No Buck. I watch Gearz on speed and Stacey David and his crew came up with this project build book and it is awesome. So she surprised me with one and I can't wait to start using it.

Well yet again another long delay between posts, but figured I might as well post tonight since our first child is due tomorrow or anytime actually. With us not being able to travel this year for Easter my parents and family headed this direction, so that allowed me to have a little help for getting my bed back on the truck after almost 2 years...yikes. So luckily Friday I had the day off so I went and grabbed my trailer with my bed on it and started ripping out the old floor which was a huge PITA, and a MESS!!!!

Almost two years on the trailer:

Oh, I forgot to mention I got rid of my DD for a little bit more family friendly vehicle, and it's a little bit of an upgrade...
1998 Ford Ranger:

2010 F150 Crew cab:Before Daystar leveling kit and new larger tires

While cutting out old bolts etc...my 3" air grinder decided to jump on me and cut right through my work gloves and make a real nice plunge cut into my thumb nail, luckily it doesn't hurt and just glad I had a pair of gloves on.

Anyway back to the truck...So once I got it all ripped out it started going pretty quick. I decided to go with 2x6's that I'm going to end up staining, I think it turned out pretty good, can't wait to get the stain on them and see the final product.

Oh and don't mind the mess in the back of the truck, needed to pick up all the spare parts laying on the driveway, and one of the middle boards still needs ripped down in order to fit.

And finally the side view, I absolutely love the stance of the truck, it is exactly what I was looking for.

The unfortunate news is I'm actually finishing the truck in order to sell it. With starting our family, this truck isn't the most family friendly. I've actually found a better project vehicle that is more family friendly and the only thing it needs is the power plant out of the truck. Hope you guys like all the updates.

Congrats on the 2 additions to your family.
After seeing your thread here a couple years ago. It has finally help give me the push to get my 85 done. Tomorrow order lower ball joints. I still need to remove the radius arm and I beam from my parts truck to clean and paint and eventually install on my 85. It will be nice no more rattles and swaying once all the new joints bushings, radius arms and springs are install. Should tighten the front up.
I bought a parts truck with a decent box than mine that needs a little TLC. but minimal rust and I can fix it. So I will have a good box. Plus the parts truck has a good diffy and springs that will transfer to my 85.
Looking forward to this summer and playing a little on my truck.
Best of luck

Sounds like you have the plan figured out, hope all goes well and I'm sure it will.

I could be wrong but I believe these are what you are looking for. This is who I ordered all my parts from.

So I finally finished up the bed on the truck. I think it turned out great. The truck itself is taking on a true sleeper type of a vehicle. Hopefully this weekend I can work on the wheels and get them cleaned up and painted. Also need to do a little work on the alignment, but other than that there are a few small things here and there and it will be ready to sell. I really hate that I need to sell it, but you'll see why later in the post.

Also got the tailgate installed as well as the rear bumper.

All in all I think the truck is turning out great. I know this look isn't for everyone, I just love the old faded patina looking paint with a lowered stepside truck. I think this would make an awesome shop truck and parts runner but that's just my opinion. However, I do have to sell this in order to make room for my current project. My wife is an amazing woman that allows me to do these things, but one of her rules is "one comes in, one goes out" which works because we are working with limited space. So here is why I will be selling the truck shortly.

1966 Mustang GT, 302, Currie 9" rear end, rack and pinion steering, 4 wheel discs brakes, and the list goes on...this will allow me to take a car seat where my truck wouldn't. So this is the new family cruiser.

Too bad the truck has to go, but that's a great looking Mustang. Our family cruiser/hot rod growing up was a '67 Coupe.

So it's been a while since I've done any posting on here, I've actually had some trouble with the transmission in the truck. Right as I was getting ready to drive the truck home from taking pictures to post in on Craigslist, the u-joint decided to break causing the drive shaft to bounce off the pavement and rip off the rear tail housing of the AOD. So I bought another used AOD put it in and seemed to be working fine until a clutch pack decided it wanted to stick. So I'm stuck with a truck that needs another transmission because no matter in park, neutral or whatever gear you want, it wants to move. The bad thing is I'm trying to sell the truck. So enough rambling here is my Craigslist post as is right now, I'm actually on the hunt for another transmission for it, so if you anyone in the Kansas City area knows of a good AOD I would be interested. Thanks for looking.

Trent - Sorry to see you sell, but understand. Don't see a price in your CL post. What are you asking?
