Just purchased a 2005 XLT a week ago. Love the vehicle.
We took the kids to visit family in Cali. On the way back we stopped at Chuck E Cheese in Sacramento. When we came out we discovered our vehicle had been broken into. The new lock code did not work, but the original factory code still worked. They stole all of our luggage and rifled through the entire vehicle. Amazingly they left the kindle and gas card.
They damaged the door under the lock to get in. But they also messed up the electrical system some how. The compass was reset. Also my after market garage door opener was wiped out.
Has anyone had this happen? Did they short something out inside the door to cause the electrical problems? Or do you think they used a wireless device to bypass Ford's alarm system? Anyone recommend a good alarm system that would prevent or slow them down in the future?
Similar thing happened to me! I lock my EX religiously because of indash nav, iPods, tools etc. Woke up one morning to find my console left open and stuff scattered everywhere!! Needless to say I have no clue as to how they got in my truck, all doors and locks looked as it they were never touched! So that same day I bought CodeAlarm ca1551, it has the 2-way remote so if it goes off, so does the key fob! Bought it at a local elect shop for $350 installed.
Completely off topic (maybe not so much) but I read somewhere that Chuck E Cheese's are the #1 place in the U.S. that the police are called to. More than any other public place or business. Kinda strange.
It always seems to be the reason on why a person buys an alarm system is because they had their truck broken into.
PEOPLE, DONT WAIT..... IF YOU HAVE CUSTOM MODS ON YOUR TRUCK OR JUST LOVE YOUR TRUCK, JUST SPEND THE MONEY NOW AND SECURE IT. DONT HAVE THAT "ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN TO ME" ATTITUDE.
