I pulled my hpop to replace all the o-rings. I also put new o-rings in the fittings on the head.
I used my vacuum pump to remove some oil out of the rail so i could clean the threads, change o-rings and add a little loc-tite. I filled the hpoh reservoir and have NOT tried to start the truck yet.
I believe the hpop will refill the lines and rails as i turn it over right ?
Is there any other thing i should do before trying to start it ?
I never pulled my fuse when I replaced mine, but it did take some cranking to fill the lines and pump before it would build the 500psi to fire the injectors.
Well after topping off the reservoir, I turned it over to try and start it. It took a bit, but it did. i have tried to restart it twice now and it takes about 5 or 6 seconds to re start. I have not drove it yet.. Im thinking there is air in the line still ??
i would pull the 30 fuse to the pcm so i wont start to let the oil get in there.
They changed the fuse box in 02 so pulling fuse 30 won't do him any good.

Yes you still have air in the lines and nothing to worry about. Go ahead and drive it. It will likely be a little slow to start a few more times until you get the air worked out.
Thanks guys.. This is the first time digging in to something on the motor of this truck. Still a little intimidated being this is the first diesel i have worked on.
I must say, That changing all the o-rings on the hpop, None serviceable plug and pressure line's Really was not that hard..
Well, after driving about 50 miles last night.. I parked my truck and no oil was dripping at all. Major oil leak fixed..
But this morning i climbed up to see the motor. the rear valley has a small amount of oil in it. The rest of the motor is still dry. I have always had a drop or two on the driveway after a long drive for about a year or so. I kinda thought it was from the turbo pedestal.
Now after changing all the o-rings from the center up to the front, i know for fact that its leaking.
I have the 0-rings for it from the mechanics kit. I guess its next on the list..
Got to tell ya, not driving the truck for over a week sucked..
I just felt so small driving my girlfriends little Hyundai
After you dig into it the first time and find out it's really not that hard with the help available here, your confidence starts to go up for the next project. Sounds like you're already off on a good start. You'll be planning mods and other stuff before long.
Besides, it feels good to know if something comes up you'll be able to take care of it.
