OK,We changed oil in the old truck Sunday and she wouldn't start afterward.I finally sprayed a little ether and she fired up.Started Ok Sunday when my son went to his GF's and back and yesterday to school and back. This afternoon when he was leaving baseball practice,it wouldn't start and he had to spray again.I checked fuel press. at the lift pump-5-6lbs.-I checked press. at the schader valve on top of the filter and got about 2 1/2 lbs.Is that from the return lines on the injectors? Is that OK?It started several times OK but that is twice since Sunday after sitting for a few hours.Any ideas?

you want to get 1/3 of a pint of fuel at the filter head for 10 seconds of cranking, and 5-7 psi IIRC.
I changed the piece of rubber line from the frame to the pump just because it looked old.The 2nd injector on the right side(#2 ?)was a little wet around the plastic return hat so I pulled the return lines off that side and checked the o-rings.They looked good but I put new ones on #2.I think it's getting air in the system but I also wonder if a failing IP would let the injector lines empty and get air in them. When it does this it runs fine when it starts,it doesn't start rough and then smooth out.
You would be best off to put a complete Injector Installation kit in ... Doing Injector returns one at a time is a tail chasing nightmare and you'll likely never get them all sealed, as you change one you'll move another causing it to leak.
Do all 8 at once, or at least one whole bank.
Remember Air Molecules are smaller then Diesel Molecules, just because it's not leaking fuel does not mean it's not leaking air.
