Question Windshield Polishing?

The morning sun is really bringing out the very small chips and scratches in the windshields of our vehicles. Is there a good product available to "polish" the surface of the glass to bring the surface back to near new?

(I always stand up and look when Bruker posts ANYTHING. It's usually something very cool.....)

I always heard RAIN-EX products were pretty good, but I don't think they have anything for that.

I've heard of folks polishing their windshield, but never actually seen it done. IMHO, you can get a new one for ~$200, so why bother.
Every used car that I buy usually gets a new windshield shortly after purchase. I hate driving into the sun, or in light rain, with a sandblasted windshield. To me, it's money well spent.

I always use newpaper to polish the surface clean.....Gets rid of all the lint, etc.......

But if it has chips anyways....a new one is a better choice......

Always been told to not use paper products to polish/clean glass, as it leaves small scratches...

How so? It's softer than glass....Besides, its a natural product for the most part, not having lint, etc.....JMO....Nver had an issue...

OTOH, I need to fix my ps window...Has a few deeper scratch from the weather stripping catching it as it went up and down...

the claim is the wood fibers they are made of cause scratching. Not deep, just tiny ones, that build up over time to make haze.

No issues here....

Besides...TECHNICALLY, glass isn't a solid... Or a liquid for that matter....
Its somewhere in between...

Super cooled liquid is a term that has been avoided....

The molecules of glass aren't aligned...But are rigidly bound...Thus being a moot point between liquid and solid....

So now......Head hurt?

Not everyone has the spare money lying around to replace a hazy windshield. Also, many cost quite a bit more, especially some of the newer cars that are back to using antennae or defroster grids in the glass. My Courier, as an example, has a plain windshield that will cost nearly $500 to replace. They used the same windshield from 72-82 (84 for the Mazdas) on both the Courier and Mazda B-series pickups, yet they aren't cheap. Mine had five big stone chips with a crack spreading off one when I got it, so it's non-repairable. The one on my Subaru will be fixed, though, as aside from some scratching it's ok.
